my (alan) coworker joseph santos (I know he'd like it if we said his full name) told me a horrifying story about he slammed his car into the freeway divider, and how his first thought wasn't "I'm alive!" or even "What the hell just happened?!" His first thought was "I can't afford this." He stumbles out of the car and a bystander runs up and offers to call an ambulance - he refused. Thankfully he was okay anyway. But what a close call. The story spooked me and I put it to some music.

I asked my mom what she thought of this song in progress. She told me "Why are all of your songs so sad all the time? Write something happy!" Meanwhile I was going back-and-forth with frequent Toxhard collaborator Skye Braband on lyrics and he came up with the hook "Stop singing doombops" which I latched onto immediately. And now it's this song.
